DPRK Premier Inspects Pharmaceutical Factories

Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and premier of the Cabinet, inspected Pyongyang and Sunchon pharmaceutical factories.

Going round the Pyongyang Pharmaceutical Factory under remodeling, the premier called on its officials to display the traits of implementing the Party decisions unconditionally, thoroughly and accurately, mindful of the Party's intention to put the country's pharmaceutical industry on a new higher level, and thus tangibly contribute to consolidating the material and technical foundation of the public health sector.

Sufficient production and supply of medicines serve as a prerequisite to protecting the people's lives and health in the current rigorous anti-epidemic campaign, he said, calling for turning the factory into a model and standard factory of the pharmaceutical industry, as intended by the Party, at an early date.

At the Sunchon Pharmaceutical Factory, he stressed the need to put on a normal basis the production of various kinds of medicines, fit for our people's constitution and demands and for the international quality control standards, and step up the work for the home production of raw and other materials by enlisting the scientific and technological potentials to the full.

On-site consultative meetings took measures after discussing the issue of extending the production capacity of pharmaceutical factories on a long-term basis, the issue of decisively raising the scientific level of production processes and the issue for the relevant sectors and units to provide in time the equipment and materials needed for the modernization of those factories.
