Char in Lake Chon
Char, a natural monument, is the pride of Mt Paektu and the DPRK.
Several decades ago, the members of the group of exploring Lake Chon on Mt Paektu stocked the lake with char adapted to its circumstances and succeeded in its breeding.
In December Juche 81 (1992), he named the fish char in Lake Chon as its was adapted to its circumstances and differed from the characters of other species of char.
The appearance of the fish is similar to other species, but it is bigger than them. It is 40 to 50 cm long and weighs 0.5 kg on average and 7.7 kg to the maximum.
It is an object for protection in the international biosphere reserves. The academic circle is making researches into the fish as it inhabits the highest place in the Eurasian Continent.
